I Hate Test
My boss was on leave for 2 weeks. Normally we would be happy if the boss is not around, wouldn't we? Not this time. Before he left, he managed to draft a set of questions for us to test our understanding of our daily job.
No excel formula is allowed. Basically like the good old days where we need to show our detailed workings on how we derived the answer. Damn. Having been so used with Bill Gates formula, i personally found the test very challenging. Took me days of sleepless nights to figure out the answer. (err actually only 1 night...typical last minute effort).
The most frustrating thing was I still couldn't solve the problems. I felt quite useless in that. Went to work half asleep yesterday and had some discussion with my colleague on how to solve the questions. One smart chap convincingly presented his answer and that made me opt for his approach to solve the problem.
I was the first one to submit the answers to my boss (albeit at 7.30 p.m.) and quickly left the office when I saw the boss opened his mail. A few minutes later my colleague sms me to say no one gets it right. Arrgh! he cynically said I have a very creative ways of solving the problem...haha
It was actually a very good exercise to sharpen our basic skills in financial maths. But to put it into a test format really bugs me off as it creates unnecessary pressure. Anyway, I've yet to discuss the answers with my boss. Lets see how he reacts!
Signing off at 6.30 p.m.
