Who Did It?

I just got back from work when my wife told me something about my kids. Apparently, it was raining heavily during the afternoon. Everyone was asleep except for the kids and the maid. My poor maid rushed quickly out of the house to collect the clothes she dried earlier. While doing this, my naughty kids locked the main door. My maid was banging the door furiously but since the rain was heavy, no one could listen to her, except for my kids of course. She was outside the house for a good half and hour and was crying in front of the door. Having seen her cried, my kids unlocked the door for her. Obviously, they were scolded by their mum after that.

Both of them kept on accusing each other when we asked who actually locked the door. I want to inculcate the sense of honesty in them, so I told them no one will be punished if they admit their mistake. As a sweetener, I convinced them that those who admit the mistake will get a bigger gift for their birthday next week.

Having heard that, my cheeky son (my main suspect) quickly admitted that he was the one who locked the maid out. Feeling half satisfied, I quickly praised him for being honest and went on a step further by asking him why he did it. His response was a classic. "I did it because Nisa (his little sister) ask me to do so" We all burst into laughter at that very moment. Double whammy! So, at the end, he'll get the bigger present and manage to blame his sister for the incident.

Signing off at 11.00 p.m.
